Is that Anderson smiling?

Celebrate the birth of Anderson...

To celebrate the birth of Anderson, we are inviting you and your family to our house for "so mien"(threadlike noodle) aka "misua" or "long life noodle" or "麵線" this Saturday (04/11/09) from 11:00am to 2:00pm.

Grandma "Miranda's mom" will be the cook and we would love to see you there. Please let us know if you are coming so that we know how much of those noodles to prepare.... If you don't know where I live, I guess that means you are not invited :) But, you can still enjoy the picture below...

In Foochow culture, we invite friends and relatives for "so mien" when a new baby is born, and this is usually held within the first month, some as early as the first 2 weeks. The only dish to be served will be "so mien" with chicken soup and eggs. So, don't expect a feast... :) but you can eat as much noodle as you want.... and of course eggs....

Day Seven - Anderson taking a bath...

We just returned from the hospital. We went to the hospital late tonight so that we can watch Anderson take a bath. He was scheduled to take his bath at 11:00pm. We want to learn how to do it since he is so tiny and fragile and the nurse showed us.

The nurse basically only wiping him down with warm water and soap with paper towels since the cloth is consider too rough. He does not like the bath itself. He was crying and kicking all the way. But, as soon as the nurse started to shampoo his hair, he mellowed down and seemed to enjoy it.

After shower, mommy changed him and dressed him with regular clothing. He is no longer in the incubator so he cannot be naked anymore. Then Miranda fed him and held him...

He is doing better everyday and should be coming home in the next day or two.... It is late, so I will post pictures tomorrow, or rather later on today...

Anderson Feeding...

Anderson is off the oxygen and intravenous, he is breathing on his own and he is able to suck milk pumped and stored from mommy. This afternoon he was taking 41cc every three hours and it will max out at 47cc. He is doing very well.... Thanks for all your prayers...

Miranda has been discharged and she is home.... She is doing a lot better than expected and we are trying to slow her down.. :)

Anderson Meeting Big Sister...

Amanda finally met her brother today. After all those paper work, and she said she felt nervous before entering the room. But when the nurse asked if she wants to hold her little brother, she chickened out.... she watched him, she touched him and right before she left, she gave him a little kiss....

Anderson Meeting Grandma....

Grandma went to see Anderson this morning. This is the first time they see each other eye to eye. Grandma saw her sleeping the first day and Grandma has been asking if Anderson had opened his eye because she has not seen him with opened eyes, and sure enough they made eye contact together and lots of them. It was strange that Anderson was just staring at Grandma as if he knows Grandma.... and one look at Anderson with his eyes open, Grandma said he looks just like Daddy... What do you think?

Anderson Sunbathing?

When I came into the NICU to see Anderson this morning, he was doing Photo Therapy because he has developed jaundice, a yellowish discoloration of the skin and eyes. The nurse assured me that we should not be alarmed and with photo therapy, it should go away in a few days....
