DO NOT TO THIS!!!

With all the warnings on TV, Radio, Newspapers about what you can and can’t do, it can be confusing. Let’s make it simple……***DO NOT DO THIS!!!***

Andy Rooney Tips for Handling Telemarketers

(1)Three Little Words That Work !!
The three little words are: 'Hold On, Please...'
Saying this, while putting down your phone and walking off (instead of hanging-up immediately) would make each telemarketing call so much more time-consuming that boiler room sales would grind to a halt.
Then when you eventually hear the phone company's 'beep-beep-beep' tone, you know it's time to go back and hang up your handset, which has efficiently completed its task.
These three little words will help eliminate telephone soliciting.

(2) Do you ever get those annoying phone calls with no one on the other end?
This is a telemarketing technique where a machine makes phone calls and records the time of day when a person answers the phone.
This technique is used to determine the best time of day for a 'real' sales person to call back and get someone at home.
What you can do after answering, if you notice there is no one there, is to immediately start hitting your # button on the phone, 6 or 7 times, as quickly as possible. This confuses the machine that dialed the call and it kicks your number out of their system. Gosh, what a shame not to have your name in their system any longer!

(3) Junk Mail Help:
This one is the best!
When you get 'ads' enclosed with your phone or utility bill, return these 'ads' with your payment. Let the sending companies throw their own junk mail away.
When you get those 'pre-approved' letters in the ma il for everything from credit cards to 2nd mortgages and similar type junk, do not throw away the return envelope.
Most of these come with postage-paid return envelopes, right? It costs them more than the regular 37 cents postage 'IF' and when they receive them back.
It costs them nothing if you throw them away! The postage was around 50 cents before the la st increase and it is according to the weight. In that case, why not get rid of some of your other junk mail and put it in these cool little, postage-paid return envelopes.

One of Andy Rooney's (60 minutes) ideas.
Send an ad for your local chimney cleaner to American Express. Send a pizza coupon to Citibank. If you didn't get anything else that day, then just send them their blank application back! If you want to remain anonymous, just make sure your name isn't on anything you send them.
You can even send the envelope back empty if you want to just to keep them guessing! It still costs them 37 cents.
The banks and credit card companies are currently getting a lot of their own junk back in the mail, but folks, we need to OVERWHELM them. Let's let them know what it's like to get lots of junk mail, and best of all they're paying for it...Twice!
Let's help keep our postal service busy since they are saying that e-mail is cutting into their business profits, and that's why they need to increase postage cost s again. You get the idea !
If enough people follow these tips, it will work ---- I have been doing this for years, and I get very little junk mail anymore.

The Lord is Good and Merciful

Email from my sister...

The Lord is good and merciful! The surgery was successful but painful according to mom. She had shown great pain after she got out to the regular ward to rest.

We got to the Hospital this afternoon at 1pm and we waited, and waited, and waited, and finally at 6:40pm, they finally came to fetch mom and got her ready to be operated. The surgery takes around 1 1/2 hours and they brought mom back to rest at the ward for a couple of more hours. The doctor finally came around 11:30pm and checked on her. She shows us how to change the pad and demonstrate the use of all kinds of drops, and told us the different kinds of medicine. We left the hospital and came back to the hotel around 12:30am. I cooked her some noodles to eat earlier and she went back to sleep again since she took some sleeping pills earlier. It's 1:46 AM now, and i need to start packing before taking shower. Need to wait up at 5am this morning.

The doctor was kind enough to write a letter to MAS for and request for comfortable seating for the patient who just had an operation..........

I went to Kuala Lumpur Sentral Station MAS office to have them fix my problem with my air ticket too. Thank God that i am able to fly home tomorrow.

Thanks for your prayers

Prayer Request

My mom will be having a retinal surgery at 1:00am tomorrow (4/28) in Malaysia. Please keep her in your prayers.

As most of you may have already known, my brother and sister took my mother back to our hometown Sibu, Malaysia to celebrate her 70th birthday. After the celebration, they spent a few days in Cambodia, and then back to Penang and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to rest up before taking the long flight home...

During the last leg of the trip, my mom complained of poor vision, and they brought her to check her eyes. The doctor said that she has Retinal detachment.

Retinal detachment is a disorder of the eye in which the retina peels away from its underlying layer of support tissue. Initial detachment may be localized, but without rapid treatment the entire retina may detach, leading to vision loss and blindness. It is a medical emergency. [1]

The retina is a thin layer of light-sensitive tissue on the back wall of the eye. The optical system of the eye focuses light on the retina much like light is focused on the film in a camera. The retina translates that focused image into neural impulses and sends them to the brain via the optic nerve. Occasionally, posterior vitreous detachment, injury or trauma to the eye or head may cause a small tear in the retina. The tear allows vitreous fluid to seep through it under the retina, and peel it away like a bubble in wallpaper.

They then took my mother to see an eye specialist at University Malaya. She is a retinal surgeon. She was educated in Australia, and was/is involved in medical field in UK, Ireland, Hong Kong and Malaysia. She has just returned from Pasadena for a conference. Her children were born in US. She is fluent in multiple languages, including Mandarin. My mom was very comfortable talking with her directly. She also told us that a cataract surgeon in US may not perform retinal surgery. They were also told that it is very serious and could cause blindness, if not rectified in time.

My mom then decided to have the surgery done in KL, Malaysia. They will meet with the anesthesiologist at 1pm today local time, and at 4pm (1:00am Tuesday our time), the surgery will be performed. After that, she will be resting at a ward, and then fly home the second day.

My mother just called and asked for all your prayers, especially the pastors... Please keep her in your prayers!

My new BlackBerry Storm

Thank you all for voting on my blog for my next phone. I know most of you had voted for the iPhone and I liked iPhone as well. But after much research and consideration, and since my main application is email, IM and web browsing, I decided to get the BlackBerry Storm. I think the main reason is the familiarity with the BlackBerry products. I have been using them for the past couple years and I hate to learn something new all over again.

So, this morning I dived in and got myself a Storm. All of us got new phones, including Miranda and Amanda. Our numbers remain the same but we are with Verizon Wireless now...

"it's ok to Quit....."

1. Quit arguing with people about the same old foolishness! Respect their position and keep it moving!

2. Quit telling people your secrets when you know they are not going to keep them! And if you keep telling them, then quit getting mad when they tell your secrets!

3. Quit trying to pull people on your journey who don't want to travel with you. Either they believe in you and value you...or they don't!

4. Quit complaining about things you can't and won't change!

5. Quit gossiping about other people! Minding our own business should be a full time job!

6. Quit blaming each other for things that in the big picture aren't going to matter three weeks from now! Talk solutions...and then implement them!

7. Quit eating things you know are not good for you! If you can't quit...eat smaller portions!

8. Quit buying things when we know we can't afford them! If you don't have self control, then quit going to the stores! Quit charging things, especially when you don't NEED them!

9. Quit staying in unhealthy relationships! It is not okay for people to verbally or physically abuse you! So quit lying to yourself! It is not okay to stay in the marriage for the children! Ask them and they will tell you that they really would prefer to see you happy and that the misery you and your spouse/partner are living with is affecting them!

10. Quit letting family members rope you into the drama! -Start telling them you don't want to hear it! Quit spreading the drama! Quit calling other relatives and telling them about your cousin or aunt! Go back to #5 minding your own
business should be enough to keep you busy!

11. Quit trying to change people! IT DOESN'T WORK! Quit cussing people out when you know that they are just being the miserable and jealous people that they are!

12. Quit the job you hate! Start pursuing your passion.. Find the job that fuels your passion BEFORE you quit!

13. Quit volunteering for things that you aren't getting any personal fulfillment from anymore! Quit volunteering for things and then failing to follow through with your commitment!

14. Quit listening to the naysayers! Quit watching the depressing news if you are going to live in the doom and gloom of it all!

15. Quit making excuses about why you are where you are or why you can't do what you want to do!

16. Quit waiting on others to give you the answers...and start finding the answers for yourself! If what you are doing isn't working for you...then quit it!

17. Quit settling and start making your dreams a reality!- Quit being afraid and START LIVING YOUR LIFE! CREATE THE LIFE YOU WANT! If you want something different than what you have had in the past...you must quit doing what you have done before and DO something different! JUST QUIT IT ...... and START DOING something to create the experience you want!

My mom in Cambodia

After celebrating her 70th birthday in Sibu, Malaysia, my mom and my "little" brother and my "little" sister have moved on to spend a few exotic days in Cambodia....

"We went to Angkor Wat today, we had two coconut today since the weather is so hot. we sweat like crazy, cups of sweats. Mom is so tired today that she said that she can't walk anymore. After drinking the coconut milk, she is back to life again, and then we brought her to the 90 minutes oil massage and she is feeling much better now. It's much better today, may be it's the oil that made them press harder.

The picture below is where my mom was eating the sticky rice cooked in the bamboo, she was so hungry yesterday that she doesn't care that she was eating food from the Hawker store.... " - Quote from Mee Kee

This is how you fix the economy...

This is from an article in the St. Petersburg Times Newspaper on Sunday. The Business Section asked readers for ideas on "How Would You Fix the Economy?" I think this guy nailed it!

Dear Mr. President:

Please find below my suggestion for fixing America 's economy. Instead of giving billions of dollars to companies that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan.

You can call it the Patriotic Retirement Plan:

There are about 40 million people over 50 in the work force. Pay them $1 million apiece severance for early retirement with the following stipulations:

1) They MUST retire. Forty million job openings - Unemployment fixed.

2) They MUST buy a new American CAR. Forty million cars ordered- Auto Industry fixed.

3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage - Housing Crisis fixed.

It can't get any easier than that!

If more money is needed, then have all members of Congress and their constituents pay their taxes...
